While men gawked at Pamela Anderson’s chest in Baywatch, women fawned over hot surfer Kelly Slater. What is it about this water sport that has both guys and girls completely hooked? Apart from looking incredibly cool white surfing the waves with your board, there’s also this rush that you get while surfing. As for the Do’s and Don’ts of surfing… To start with, don’t surf when you’ve had too much alcohol to drink — this is actually a no-brainer since it will be impossible for you to balance on your surfboard if you can’t even walk straight. Next, remember you don’t own the ocean — don’t expect to be surfing blissfully alone, others have the right to enjoy themselves, too. So in cause you’re in the water with a lot of other people (not necessarily all of them are surfing though), be aware of your surroundings as well as the distance that you have from the people around you. You don’t watch to crash into another surfer or fall off on someone, so always stay alert. Also, after you’ve eaten a meal, it’s best to stay clear of the water for at least 45 minutes. Just like in swimming or any other physical activity, allow time for your food to get digested or this might lead to serious complications.

Surfing spots in the country worth a visit include Cloud 9 and Tuason Point in Siargao, San Juan in La Union, Majestics in Catanduanes, and Clemento in Baler — all great for surfing adventures as they not only offer scenic views but great waves as well.
